The Amendment came into operation on the date this notice was published in the Victoria Government Gazette, being 6 September 2017.
The Amendment applies to land known as Lot 1 on Title Plan 756838J and Title Plan 548866P and the adjacent Wyndham and Fitzjohn Street road reserves. The land is located to the south-east of Victoria Park Lake and owned by Greater Shepparton City Council. The land has up until recently been occupied by a Shell service station, a Visitors Information Centre and café, and part of the land is currently used as a caravan park.
The amendment inserts a new Incorporated Document titled SAM Redevelopment Project, June 2017 into the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme.
Specifically, the Amendment:
- amends the Schedule to Clause 52.03 Specific Sites and Exclusions; and
- amends Clause 81.01 Table of Documents Incorporated in this Scheme, to include an Incorporated Document titled SAM Redevelopment Project, June 2017, to exempt use and development associated with the project from the need for a planning permit.
The Amendment will include a relocated Visitor Information Centre which destroyed by fire in 2013 within the footprint and Gallery Kaiela. The building will feature a sculpture forecourt, community arbour, art hill performance space, café and roof top event area and sheltering verandahs to all four sides.
