Amendments C204 and C216 Implementation of the Greater Shepparton Heritage Study Stage IIC 2017

The Heritage Overlay seeks to protect and conserve all places of local cultural heritage significance. It ensures that a planning permit is triggered that will allow for the assessment of any changes that do not adversely affect the significance of the place can be appropriately assessed.

Amendments C204 and C216 to the Greater Shepparton Planning Scheme (Planning Scheme) have applied interim heritage controls to the 178 places included in the latest heritage study: the Greater Shepparton Heritage Study Stage IIC 2017 (the Study). Amendments C204 and C216 to the Planning Scheme were approved by the Minister for Planning and included in the Victoria Government Gazette on 20 November 2018 and 2 May 2019 respectively. Interim heritage controls now apply to all places identified in the Study. These amendments seek to ensure that these places are protected while Amendment C205 is progressed.

Amendment C205 will seek to give effect to the findings and recommendations of the Study by applying these controls on a permanent basis. Exhibition for Amendment C205 will be exhibited in June 2019. All land owners and occupiers of land will be notified at the commencement of this exhibition period.

Amendment C205 will have an extensive consultation period lasting several months and will involve site visits for a number of places.
