Greater Shepparton Women's Charter Advisory Committee

The aim of the Greater Shepparton Women's Charter Advisory Committee (GSWCAC) is to support and promote women in leadership roles and all levels of decision-making, including business or workplace positions, community groups or boards of management.

Committee Nominations

The GSWCAC comprises of community members and representatives of Greater Shepparton City Council as well as a Councillor as Charter Champion. This is a Strategic Advisory Committee to Council advising on Diversity, Active Citizenship and Gender Equity. Membership is for a two year term.

Each year the GSWCAC encourages members of the community to nominate an individual who has made a positive difference to women in the community.

Women's Charter Terms of Reference

The Greater Shepparton Women's Charter Advisory Committee is bound by a Terms of Reference. The Terms of Reference are reviewed every two years.

  • Prevention of Violence - Women's Health Goulburn North East
    Women’s Health Goulburn North East works in the primary prevention of violence, that is, we aim to prevent violence before it occurs, by influencing or eliminating the underlying drivers of violence against women, which are gender inequality and rigid gender roles.
  • Victorian Local Government Association
    The VLGA actively works to increase women’s participation in local governments as citizens, candidates and councillors. The VLGA is guided by the Victorian Local Government Women’s Charter and its three principles of gender equity, diversity and active citizenship.
  • Our Watch 
    Our Watch has been established to drive nation-wide change in the culture, behaviours and attitudes that lead to violence against women and children. 
  • Know The Line
    This website by the The Australian Human Rights Commission, Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Australian Council of Trade Unions has been developed to support employers to take action on workplace sexual harassment because preventing sexual harassment is good for business.
  • International Women's Day
    Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women's craft markets, theatrical performances, fashion parades and more.
  • My Blue Sky
    Australia’s first website dedicated to forced marriage prevention. This website offers vulnerable people the opportunity to access reliable information about marriage in Australia and direct access to legal advice and support through a simple email or text message.
  • AFL GM Domestic Violence Campaign
    Some of the region’s leading footballers have taken a stand against domestic violence in a powerful video message released as part of the GOTAFE GVFL White Ribbon themed round. The video, an initiative of AFL Goulburn Murray, sees players representing clubs from all four senior football leagues across the region creating a collective statement declaring domestic violence as unacceptable in our community.
