Australian Red Cross is dedicated to providing support to people during crises large and small, from personal emergencies to major disasters.
Good Start Breakfast Club
Volunteers provide a healthy breakfast and nutrition information to children who may otherwise go to school hungry. Volunteers also act as positive role models encouraging healthy food choices. Availability is minimum of 1 hour per week, before school day starts, 8am – 9am
Volunteers make phone calls to check on the wellbeing of people who are isolated and at risk of accident or illness that may go unnoticed. The calls support people to live independently in their own homes, providing peace of mind and a friendly voice. Availability: Once a week or fortnight for approximately one hour from 8am – 9am
Volunteers help people and communities prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies, such as bushfires, floods or even personal crisis. They provide support, information and practical assistance before, during and after emergencies. Availability: On standby, up to 8 hours each shift
Migration Support Programs
Migration Support Programs (MSP) provide effective and responsive services to people who are vulnerable as a result of migration, such as those separated by war and disaster, refugees, asylum seekers and immigration detainees. Volunteer’s roles range from outreach and orientation support to assisting with group information sessions. Availability: varies depending on role
