Community Living Local Law No 1 states:
2.1 Dangerous Land
No person who owns or occupies property shall allow or permit such property to be kept in a manner that is, in the opinion of an authorised officer, dangerous or likely to cause danger to life or property, including property that is:
- a haven for vermin, insects or excessive vegetation; or
- used for the storage of any goods and/or substances which are dangerous or are likely to cause danger to life or property.
First offence - 4 penalty units ($400.00)
Second or subsequent offence - 8 penalty units ($800.00)
2.2 Unsightly Land
No person who owns or occupies property shall allow or permit such property to be kept in a manner which, in the opinion of an authorised officer, is unsightly or detrimental to the general amenity of the neighbourhood, including property, which:
- harbours unconstrained rubbish; or
- contains disused excavation or waste material; or
- contains long or excessive vegetation including weeds, grass, undergrowth or any other vegetation.
First offence - 2 penalty units ($200.00)
Second or subsequent offence - 4 penalty units ($400.00)
If you have received a Caution Notice-Notice to Comply please ensure that you follow the compliance details and complete the required work by the specified date. If you are unable to complete the works within the time specified please call the Issuing Officer as soon as possible before the date to discuss an extension. Failure to comply may result in an infringement being issued.
If you have been asked to clear your grass please trim back to a maximum height of 75mm / 3”. If you are unable to clear the property yourself a list of contractors can be found in the Yellow Pages under “Lawn Cutting & Maintenance”.
If you have waste that needs to be disposed of you can take it to one of Council's Resource Recovery Centres.
Council appreciates your effort in clearing your property. Please be advised that it is your responsibility to ensure that your property is maintained in a safe and tidy manner that is of no detriment to neighbouring properties from either a public safety or a community amenity point of view.
