Discover Shepparton Photography Competition

Media Release: Friday 5 June 2009

Greater Shepparton City Council is holding a Discover Shepparton Photography Competition to capture images around the region to be used for a new tourism website www.discovershepparton.com.au.

The new website, due to go live in August, is a new online accommodation booking system, that enables all accommodation providers in the Greater Shepparton region to be able to advertise their properties online, and receive instant bookings electronically.

Council's Tourism Manager, Amanda McCulloch said entries from the amateur photography competition will feature on the new tourism website.

"We are asking people to submit their favourite shots of Greater Shepparton to showcase our region and to help entice people to come visit," Ms McCulloch said.

"We are looking for rural and urban photos and particularly shots of our smaller towns, as well as our main townships.

"The images can be of anything; people, landscapes, attractions, buildings and communities.

"The idea is to capture the essence of the lifestyle enjoyed by residents in the Greater Shepparton region to encourage people to visit the area.

"We know there is sure to be some stunning images out there, and we would love to have the opportunity showcase them in this way."

The six-week photography competition opens on Monday 8 June and closes at 5.00pm on Friday 17 July 2009.
