Seven communities in the Greater City of Shepparton hold community celebrations in their townships on Australia Day. All of the celebrations include a flag raising ceremony, the national anthem and the presentation of the local Citizen of the Year awards. Varying events occur and the different events with some providing a free breakfast or lunch, entertainment, keynote speaker and many other activities that bring the community together for this special day. Nominations for Australia Day awards are encouraged from any community member so if you know someone who deserves recognition, contact your local Australia Day committee.
