Bills and fines

Payment of Council bills such as rates, pet registration, building permits or parking fines may be paid at the Council reception counter, 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton from 8.15 to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

Rates

If you own a home in Greater Shepparton you have to pay rates. Your rates ensure that Council can provide services to the community, programs and facilities which you and your family need.

The annual rates cover the period from 1 July to 30 June each year. You can pay rates in four instalments or in 10 monthly direct debits.
Payments can be made by phone, mail, in person at council offices, at Australia Post, or via the internet with BPAY or direct debit.

Building services

Council has the responsibility to control property development in our region. If you want to make changes to your house or your land you may need to obtain approval, permits and submit the necessary forms. This is very important, you cannot do work without approval.

Registration of cats and dogs

Every dog and cat over the age of three months must be registered. Existing registrations must be renewed by 10 April each year. Registering your dog or cat greatly improves their chances of being returned to you if they become lost. Registration fees provide a whole range of other important services too.

Reporting problems

Council is responsible for the maintenance of many roads, footpaths and drains shared by pedestrians and cyclists across Greater Shepparton, however Council is not responsible for all roads. You can tell us about any problems such as holes, bumps and cracks on the asphalt, damaged or broken street signs and footpaths and overhanging trees. If there is something that Council does not manage, we will refer you to the appropriate authority.
