The Community Development department brings together a number of current programs to provide a more coordinated approach to community development and engagement across Greater Shepparton.
The department is responsible for programs such as Community Safety, Word and Mouth, Parkside Neighbourhood Renewal, Community Development, Transport Connections, River Connect, Drought Recovery and Community Strengthening.
These programs provide substantial benefits to the entire Greater Shepparton community.

Community Safety focuses on enhancing the awareness and capacity of residents, businesses and visitors to act, live and work safely, employing a range of information, education and community development approaches.
Neighbourhood Renewal is a continuing approach that brings together the resources and ideas of residents, government, local communities, businesses and community groups to tackle disadvantage in areas with a high concentration of public housing.
RiverConnect is a wide reaching plan that see’s the Goulburn and Broken Rivers duly recognised as the life and soul of the Shepparton-Mooroopna communities.
Greater Shepparton is currently experiencing an extreme drought that is impacting not only agricultural production, but also extended industries and communities.

Word and Mouth is a youth-driven and youth-focused organisation in Greater Shepparton. Word and Mouth is designed to provide opportunities for young people to be involved in their community.
