Increased accessibility for the 25m pool at Aquamoves

Aquamoves Lakeside Shepparton’s indoor 25m pool was upgraded last week to allow for the integration of a multi-award winning swimming pool lift known as the Poolpod.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Community, Kaye Thomson said the installation of the Poolpod is in response to community feedback received through the ongoing development of Aquamoves’ ten-year Master Plan.

“We are committed to improving facility access for residents and visitors alike and the Aquamoves Master Plan is ensuring Council has a strong focus on increasing accessibility across all areas of the centre into the future.”

“The installation of the Poolpod is a great step in this direction and will provide community members who have reduced mobility with dignified and independent access to the water,” Ms Thomson said.

The Poolpod has been designed for any swimmer who is unable to safely use a pool ladder or steps. Swimmers can choose to use the Poolpod with its custom designed submersible wheelchair or alternatively remain standing while they are lowered safely and securely into the water. Ascent, descent and depth can all be controlled with a button free RFID proximity wristband.

The Poolpod is now available for use at Aquamoves.
