New Local Laws endorsed by Council

Council endorsed both Local Law No.1 Community Living and Local Law No.2 Procedures for Council Meeting and Common Seal in last week’s Ordinary Council Meeting.

Local Law No. 1 is important as its purpose is to provide for the peace, order and good government of Greater Shepparton and covers issuing of permits and infringement notices and the prohibiting, regulating and controlling of various activities.

Local Law No. 2 sets the rules for the conduct of Council meetings and the use of the common seal and is a very important part of our governance framework.

The process for reviewing the Local Laws commenced almost 12 months ago and involved a lot of consultation with the Councillors, staff and the community.

Both Local Laws commence on 29 June 2018 after being placed in the Government Gazette on 28 June 2018.
