Old Dookie Road works to commence

Greater Shepparton City Council advises residents that works on Old Dookie Road will commence on Monday 3 April, with works expected to be completed in September 2017.

Mawson Constructions were awarded the $1.34m contract, which will see works carried out to reconstruct and widen the section of road between Drummond Road and Doyles Road.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Steve Bowmaker advises residents there will be detours in place during the works, and apologises for any delays residents may experience.

“We ask that road users are patient and adhere to all traffic management in place during the works to ensure the safety of themselves, the workers on site and pedestrians.

“The project once complete will provide a much safer road for commuters and trucks to travel on, improving the freight route for trucks to access industry in the area.

“The works will also improve traffic flow and safety, allowing for future growth in traffic volume while reducing the number of vehicles in central Shepparton,” said Mr Bowmaker.

Council has been successful in securing Regional Infrastructure Funding (RIF) to help fund a range of upgrades including this section of Old Dookie Road connecting the Shepparton East industrial zone to the Shepparton Alternate Route.

Residents who use the road regularly are encouraged to sign up via Council’s Major Projects webpage to receive regular email updates http://greatershepparton.com.au/council/major-projects
