Shepparton Sports Precinct update

The Greater Shepparton City Council Sports Precinct redevelopment is underway with three out of the five tenders allocated and work either completed or about to commence. Two tenders will be re-advertised in mid-February due to budget constraints.

Work will commence shortly on the construction of the synthetic Hockey pitch which will be completed by mid-April and be ready for the season. Soccer clubs will continue to use the Chas Johnson Reserve for this season and play will not be affected.

The funding for the sporting precinct is $13.4 million with $7.19 million from the Federal government, $750,000 from the State government, $5.3m from Council and $200,000 from sporting clubs.

Director Infrastructure Steve Bowmaker said “we have been in contact with all the sporting groups with the updates about the project. Council wants to ensure the project is completed within budget as the funding is limited.”

“This is a really exciting time for Greater Shepparton. Council has worked hard to secure Federal funding, and look forward to implementing the next stage,” said Mr Bowmaker.
