Street Rider Night Buses in Operation

There will be two Street Rider Night Buses in operation this weekend to provide safe transport home for people in Shepparton. The first pick up on Fryers Street outside of OPSM due to Carols by Barrels.

The service runs from 1am to 5am on Sunday mornings and drops passengers at Shepparton, Kialla and Mooroopna. The Street Rider Night Bus is a community sponsored initiative and delivered thanks to the support of Shepparton’s Late Night venues, Community Organisations and Local Businesses.

“The Street Rider Bus service helps reduce antisocial behaviour and drink driving, and makes Shepparton CBD a safer place and importantly provides an opportunity to get our community home safe.

The Street Rider Night Bus is coordinated by a partnership between Greater Shepparton City Council and Victoria Police. Patrons can call or text the service for assistance in locating the four bus stops within the CBD and pick up times, and are dropped home safely, for a gold coin donation.

While Council and Victoria Police coordinate the service, it relies heavily on volunteers and the support of sponsors.

If you would be interested in volunteering or becoming a Street Rider sponsor contact Greater Shepparton City Council’s Community Safety Officer on 58329792.
