Community Engagement Policy

Greater Shepparton City Council’s Community Engagement Policy has been updated to meet the requirements of the Local Government Act 2020, and is now available for comment, with feedback due by Friday 29 January 2021.

The Policy has been updated to include a deeper level of engagement with the community with Consultative and Deliberative engagement included as part of the engagement process.

The changes to the Policy are modelled on the IAP2 Spectrum of Public Participation which is designed to assist with selecting the level of participation by the public for particular consultations. These processes are either consultative or deliberative and involve different levels of participation by the public.

These changes are being adopted by all local governments across Victoria and will assist in engaging more of our community. The Policy provides a certainty for the public that Council will involve them in influencing the future of our municipality.
