Katandra West is a small centre the supports our local community.
We have strong relationships with the local community including excursions shared with the local primary schools. We have trusting relationships with families and children, working together to create strong foundation for learning for the children.
All of our educators hold qualifications ranging from Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education, Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Bachelor of Early Childhood.

Katandra West Kindergarten acknowledges the children’s families are their first teachers and work towards creating a strong relationship with the families.
We believe that working with families supports us to achieve better outcomes for all children and families.
We take a play-based approach to learning, working to support the child’s growth, learning, and development.
We will encourage children to:
- develop an understanding of the world around them;
- understand their responsibility to respect their environment and surrounding community;
- learn about our local indigenous history and multicultural community in an age-appropriate and respectful way;
- develop their autonomy and self-help skills in a safe and trusting space;
- develop affective communication skills by developing competent language and literacy tools; and
- develop their social and emotional intelligence to support their overall well-being.
This service has been rated as "Meeting" the National Quality Standards of the Australian Children's Education & Care Quality Authority.
