The aim of Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame is to preserve, celebrate and showcase the history and heritage of sports excellence and achievement of Greater Shepparton residents.

There are three categories within the sphere of the City of Greater Shepparton’s recognition of sporting achievements of Greater Shepparton residents, comprising:

• Sports Hall of Fame
• Sports Honour Roll
• Junior Sports Honour Roll

The Sports Hall of Fame recognises the achievement of Greater Shepparton sports people who have made a significant contribution to their sport at the Australian and International representative level.

The Sports Honour Roll recognises the achievements of Greater Shepparton sports people who have made a contribution to their sport as an administrator, coach, competitor, trainer, umpire, medical staff or organiser at National and/or State representative level.

The Junior Sports Honour Roll recognises the achievements of junior Greater Shepparton sports people who have competed successfully in junior competition at the Australian representative level.

Playing sport and being physically active is one of the best ways to live a long and healthy life. Grassroots sporting clubs provide better health outcomes for Australians of all ages, they help teach the important Australian values of volunteerism, cooperation, leadership, teamwork, meeting challenges, defeating adversity and pursuing excellence.

The Greater Shepparton Sports Hall of Fame aims to inspire our community and visitors to not only participate in sport and recreation, but to also set goals and work towards achieving them.

Greater Shepparton City Council is strongly committed to promoting access to sport, leisure and recreational facilities and services that are responsive to the cultural, social, recreational and demographic diversity of our community. Through ongoing development of high quality sporting infrastructure throughout Greater Shepparton and facilitating the conduct of regional, intrastate, interstate and national sporting events we aim to become the sporting capital of Victoria.

The Hall of Fame recognises the achievement of Greater Shepparton sports people who have made a significant contribution to their sport at the Australian representative level.

The Honour Roll recognises the achievements of Greater Shepparton sports people who have made a contribution to their sport as an administrator, coach, competitor, trainer, umpire, medical staff or organiser at the State and/or regional and/or the highest level within the Greater Shepparton municipality.

The Junior Honour Roll recognises the achievements of junior Greater Shepparton sports people who have competed successfully in junior competition at the International, National or State representative level.
