Sports Hall of Fame Inductee

Category: Sports Honour Roll

Sport: Administration (Cricket, AFL, Tennis)

For many years when one visited the Shepparton Post Office you could have a chat about sport with the man behind the counter Frank Scott. One couldn’t have imagined that the quiet unassuming Frank could be a father of ten and with his wife Lucy supporting their children and their friends in sporting pursuits that would see him contribute magnificently to football and cricket as a sports trainer.

As his family grew Frank took them off to sport and soon became involved with looking after the teams as a coach, an official and later on as a sports trainer.

He played tennis with the Kialla Central club of which he is a life member. Frank coached football when his boys were involved with the St Mels primary school team. They moved on to the Notre Dame College Football club and Frank was the Secretary, treasurer, and team manager.

It soon became evident that the team needed a sports trainer and Frank started the activity as trainer that would see him provide service to sport for over 50 years.

He joined the training staff at the Shepparton United Football Club and It seems to today’s football fans at Shepparton United that Frank has always been there.

The GVL executive noticed Frank’s ability and invited him to become a trainer for the League team. He has been a wonderful and most reliable trainer for the League over many years. He has also been trainer for the GV schoolboy’s team.

Frank also represented the Notre Dame club as a delegate and was a vice president. He was an organiser of the 4& 20 football carnival that Notre Dame conducted.

Frank loved his involvement as a trainer and joined the GV Sports Trainers Association and became a member of the committee. This gave him the opportunity to improve his skills and undertake sports training courses.

In the summer time Frank became involved with cricket as a trainer, becoming the trainer/manager for both Bendigo and Melbourne Country Week cricket carnivals as well as trainer for the Goulburn Murray Schoolboys team.

Franks Life Memberships are many including the GV Sports Trainers Association, Goulburn Valley League, Kialla Central Tennis Club, Notre Dame Football Club, the Shepparton Junior Football Competition and the Shepparton United Football/Netball Club. He has won many awards during his journey including VCFL and GVL awards and City of Shepparton awards.

Frank Scott has helped thousands of sports people over the years and deserves to be recognised by the City of Greater Shepparton.

Frank Scott, welcome to the Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the honour roll.
