Sport: Administration (Cricket, AFL, Tennis)

Shepparton would not be such a great city for sport if it wasn’t for the wonderful people who organise and support the sporting clubs. One such person is Lucy Scott who has raised 10 children. Not only has she been there for her children’s sport but has played a major role in sports administration over 50 years.

Lucy has been awarded Life memberships from 6 organisations which demonstrates her dedication and commitment to her children’s involvement and to sport in general.

Many sports fans will have seen Lucy when she has been a scorer at cricket and an administrator of junior football.

In a lifetime of sports involvement Lucy has a list of achievements far to long for us to cover tonight but she has taken on the role of secretary of Central Park St. Brendan’s Cricket club and Shepparton Cricket Association. She was awarded a Cricket Victoria outstanding volunteer award.

It was in junior football administration that Lucy excelled as Secretary and registrar of the Shepparton Junior Football competition. This also took her to a regional level where she represented the competition and played a role at the GV Regional Football Board.

Her favourite Football club has been Shepparton United where she served on the general committee and was treasurer of the Ladies committee.

Lucy played tennis at St. Mels and Kialla Central where she was club treasurer.

Lucy specialised as a cricket scorer and over the years scored for Central Park/St. Brendans, Cricket Shepparton, Kialla Knights, Notre Dame, where she was also registrar and treasurer, St. Mels – as scorer and team manager.

To help with her sports work, Lucy undertook sports administration courses in both cricket and football.

The football administration body the VCFL recognised Lucy’s work by awarding her the recognition of service medallion.

The contribution Lucy has made has been well recognised by the organisations she has worked with as she has been awarded Life memberships by Central Park/St. Brendan’s Cricket Club, Cricket Shepparton, Kialla Central Tennis Club, Notre Dame College Football Club, Shepparton Junior Football Competition and Shepparton United Football/Netball Club.

As one can imagine Lucy has always been an exceptionally organised person who achieved all this whilst raising ten children. Shepparton sport was so well served by this amazing lady whose contribution is now recognised by her city and she will take her rightful place in the Sports Hall of Fame.
