Female friendly amenities complete at Kialla Park Recreation Reserve

Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to advise work is now complete on the upgrade of facilities at Kialla Park Recreation Reserve.

Work began on the upgrade in December, 2019 at the Kialla complex. The majority of the funding for this project was provided by the Victorian Government - Female Friendly Facilities Project Grant and the remaining was funded by Old Students Cricket Club, GV Giants and Council.

The upgraded facilities have seen the expansion of the existing change room facilities and upgrades to all the amenities to meet current standards.

The upgrade works include the construction of female friendly change rooms, toilets, showers, along with a first aid room and two unisex umpire’s change rooms and amenities to ensure this facility is female friendly.

Kialla Park Recreation Reserve is home to the AFL Goulburn Murray headquarters and a number of sporting clubs including women’s football, cricket and junior football teams. It will also be the home of the GV Umpires association from 2020.

Greater Shepparton City Council Director Infrastructure Phil Hoare said “the upgrades to the pavilion at the Kialla Park Recreation Reserve will make it a female friendly facility and we are excited to have these new facilities operational and ready for use after the COVID-19 restrictions are eased”.

“These much needed works cater for the increasing number of female participants in cricket and football.”

“They will provide further support for the increasing number of women and girls in football, cricket, and umpiring.. The various sporting groups and users will be excited to be back playing sport when the time comes. These works have been done concurrently with the redevelopment of the oval and installation of lighting” said Mr Hoare.
