Planning

The Planning Teams of the Council have the role of developing and maintaining a quality town planning service.

The Teams have specific responsibilities for:

  • Strategic and statutory planning, including the review and assessment of planning and subdivision applications, development of local policies and planning scheme amendments
  • Coordination and control of public assets built by developers/subdividers
  • Development and implementation of guidelines for development and subdivision
  • Ensuring minimum impact on the environment, drainage and access by development or subdivision
  • Planning enforcement
  • Planning enquiries and customer service
  • Social planning
  • Native vegetation control
  • Heritage planning
  • Liquor licensing

Appointments are required for customers wishing to make an enquiry with staff in the Planning Teams. Appointments are available Monday to Friday from 8.45am to 4.15pm. Appointments can be made online, in person at the Council office at 90 Welsford Street, Shepparton or by contacting (03) 5832 9730.
