Greater Shepparton City Council has officially launched its 2019–2020 Activities in the Park program, which will run from September 2019 through to April 2020.
The program provides an opportunity for Greater Shepparton residents and visitors to participate in a number of free and low cost activities, encouraging people to be outdoors and get active.
More than 250 activities are on offer for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy, providing a great opportunity to utilise the well-established parks, pools and outdoor spaces in the region.
This season’s program features many of our favourite activities, as well as new activities such as an Amazing Race, Poetry along the River, Happy Feet Walking Group, Messy Play, Plaster Painting, Tea and Scones in the Park, Regional Playground Escapade, Yoga and Mindfulness for Kids and many more.
Greater Shepparton City Council Director Community Kaye Thomson thanked everyone for their involvement in the program, particularly the local businesses, clubs and associations for their delivery of activities and support of the program.
“I encourage residents and visitors to the region to look over the program, invite their friends and attend some of the activities that are on offer. The activities are open for everyone, so come along and enjoy being active in the outdoors,” Ms Thomson said.
“Those with a smart phone in the municipality should look at downloading our Get Mooving app. The app’s features make it easy to ensure you don’t miss out on any activity, allowing you to add activities straight into your phone calendar with just the click of a button.
“The 2019-20 program provides opportunities for locals to engage with their community, be outdoors and be physically active. Our first activity will be held on 21 September and we can’t wait to get started.”
For updates on the activities, residents and visitors can download the free Get Mooving App for smart phones, get a copy of the program flyer, follow Get Mooving Greater Shepparton on Facebook and Instagram or visit the Get Mooving Greater Shepparton website.
