Tatura Museum extension works to commence

Works on the extension of the Tatura Museum will commence next week with construction expected to be complete in June 2019.

Crow Constructions was awarded the tender and will begin works on Wednesday 20 February.

Greater Shepparton City Council Manager Neighbourhoods Amanda Tingay said the works will provide much needed improvements to the 30-year-old museum.

“The museum will under-go an upgrade to the facilities including a circa 240 square-metre extension which will help provide more space for exhibiting, storage and rotation of the collection and greater preservation,” Ms Tingay said.

“We are really excited about the possibilities the upgrades will allow and are looking forward to the end results.”

The contractor will commence with site clearance and demolition of redundant concrete hardstands in the coming week.

Excavation and placement of concrete footings, erection of the concrete wall panels and steel work will follow in March and continue through to April.

Council advises residents and commuters to be alert of changed traffic conditions. Council also requests that you observe signage and take extra care when commuting in this area.
