If you’re new to Australia or don’t speak English, we provide a range of language support services to help you communicate with us.
Free telephone interpreting service
If you are a non-English speaker and need to phone us, first call the National Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS) on 131 450. This service is completely free. You'll be:
- asked to state your language;
- connected to the TIS National operator;
- asked to repeat your language;
- connected to your interpreter.
Once connected you'll be asked your name and who you wish to be connected to.
- Ask to be connected to Greater Shepparton City Council
- Tell them the phone number is 03 5332 9700
Wait until the operator connects us.
MILS (Multilingual Information Line Service)
MILS (Multilingual Information Line Service) is a telephone service that provides access to a range of Council information through pre-recorded messages or connection to an interpreter and one of Council’s Citizens Service Officers.
Pre-recorded information about Council’s Services are available in Arabic, English, Dari and Sudanese Arabic. Connection to an interpreter is also available in up to 140 languages.
