What is the Greater Shepparton Women's Charter Advisory Committee Annual Women's Award 2024?

The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Annual Women’s Award recognises and celebrates the achievements and community impact that local women have made within Greater Shepparton.  The Award celebrates the advancement of embracing diversity and making a difference on gender equality in Greater Shepparton.

The Women’s Award celebrates women whose stories, contributions and actions have inspired and encouraged others to reach their goals however big or small.

The Annual Award is an initiative of the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter, a group of passionate local women from a variety of backgrounds who are committed to the advancement and recognition of women within Greater Shepparton. The Charter recognises the need to increase local people who identify as a woman and/or female’s participation in key decision making forums in the community and in democratic governance.

Who should nominate for the Greater Shepparton Women's Charter Advisory Committee Annual Women's Award 2024?

Nominations are encouraged and supported from local women who live, work, study or volunteer in Greater Shepparton.

Nominees will be a reflection of the diverse community of Greater Shepparton. No efforts are too large or too small. Quite simply, if you identify as a women, are a role model for others, and embrace diversity, then you are encouraged to nominate or be nominated!

For those women wanting to nominate themselves, we applaud and support you. The process can reaffirm your commitment, as you stop to reflect on your achievements and focus on what you hope to achieve in the future.

Note: Nominees must live, work or volunteer within Greater Shepparton.

How do I nominate or nominate someone for the Greater Shepparton Women's Charter Advisory Committee Annual Women’s Award 2024?

Nominations can be completed online via the application form below. 

If you wish to make a nomination via a hard copy nomination form, please collect one from Customer Service at Greater Shepparton City Council or contact Council’s Diversity Team via telephone 5832 9700 or email women@shepparton.vic.gov.au

If you would like to submit a video nomination, please upload to YouTube and provide the link, or deliver the video file to Council on a USB. You can nominate yourself or someone else. Once the entry is submitted you cannot make amendments.

Note: The nominee must be advised they are being nominated for the Women’s Award prior to submitting.

What should I include in my nomination?

Provide a short summary of the person being nominated including their background, and how they contribute to making a difference in our community. Give examples of how the nominee:

  • Makes a difference in their community, and/or
  • Acknowledges and embraces diversity, and/or
  • Inspires to be and/or is a role model to local women, and/or
  • Leads, supports or mentors others to promote equality.

Keep your nomination concise and provide examples of how the nominee meets the award criteria. Please note that assessment will only be based on the information provided within the nomination form and supporting documents.

Language should not be a barrier to telling a story. Be inventive; use your individual strengths to explain how you have met the criteria; this can include using video if preferred.

How are the Awards judged?

An Internal Selection Panel comprising of Greater Shepparton City Council Officers will assess the Award nominations against the following judging criteria:

How does the nominee:

  • Make a difference in their community
  • Acknowledge and embrace diversity
  • Inspire to be and/or is a role model to women
  • Lead, support or mentor others to promote equality
  • Live, work or volunteer within Greater Shepparton

Where will the Award be announced and presented?

The recipient of the Women’s Award will be presented at the Greater Shepparton Volunteer Awards to be held on 20 May 2024.
