The Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Annual Women’s Award recognises and celebrates the achievements and community impact that local women have made within Greater Shepparton.

The Award acknowledges the positive impact women make on society, and aims to bring greater visibility to women’s achievements across the Greater Shepparton region.

About the Greater Shepparton Women's Charter Annual Women's Award?

The Annual Women’s Award celebrates women whose stories, contributions and actions have inspired and encouraged others to reach their goals, however big or small.

The Annual Award is an initiative of the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter, a group of passionate local women from diverse backgrounds who are committed to the advancement and recognition of women within Greater Shepparton. The Charter recognises the need to increase women’s participation in key decision making forums in the community and in democratic governance.

Who should nominate for the Greater Shepparton Women's Charter Annual Women's Award?

Members of the community are encouraged to nominate an individual who has made a positive difference to women in the community.

Nominations are welcomed from anyone who identifies as a woman and/or female who lives, works, studies or volunteers in Greater Shepparton, and addresses the themes of:

  • Makes a difference to their community
  • Acknowledges/embraces, or represents diversity
  • Is a role model for other women
  • Leads, supports or mentors other women/girls to promote equity

Note: Nominees must live, work or volunteer within Greater Shepparton.

How do I nominate myself, or nominate someone for the Greater Shepparton Women's Charter Annual Women’s Award?

Nominations can be completed online via the application form below.

If you wish to make a nomination via a hard-copy nomination form, please collect one from Customer Service at Greater Shepparton City Council or contact Council’s Community Wellbeing Team via telephone 5832 9432 or email communityadmin@shepparton.vic.gov.au

If you would like to submit a video nomination, please upload to YouTube and provide the link, or deliver the video file to Council on a USB stick. Once the entry is submitted you cannot make amendments.

Note: If nominating another individual, that person must be advised they are being nominated for the Women’s Award prior to submitting.

What should I include in my nomination?

Provide a short summary of the person being nominated, including their background, and how they contribute to making a difference in our community. Give examples of how the nominee:

  • Makes a difference in their community, and/or
  • Acknowledges and embraces diversity, and/or
  • Inspires to be and/or is a role model to local women, and/or
  • Leads, supports or mentors others to promote equality.

Language should not be a barrier to telling a story. Be inventive; use your individual strengths to explain how you have met the criteria; this can include using video if preferred.

Keep your nomination concise and provide examples of how the nominee meets the award criteria. Please note that assessment will only be based on the information provided within the nomination form and supporting documents.

How are the Nominations assessed?

A selection panel comprising of one Council Officer, one member of the Greater Shepparton Women’s Charter Advisory Committee and one member of Soroptimist International of Shepparton Inc, will assess nominations against the following criteria:

  • Make a difference in their community?
  • Acknowledge, embrace or embody diversity?
  • Inspire other women and/or girls?
  • Lead, support or mentor others to promote social equity?

Where will the Award be announced and presented?

The recipient of the Award will be presented at an event hosted by the Soroptimist International of Shepparton Inc on Sunday, 14 September 2025

Further information about this event will be provided closer to the date, and nominees will be contacted by Council with relevant details.
