Uniting (Victoria Tasmania Ltd.)
Uniting (Victoria and Tasmania Ltd.) in Shepparton runs a variety of exciting programs and our volunteers help us to make great things possible!!!
- Administration support — includes answering phones, mail outs, preparing show bags, preparing welcome folders for new arrival with resources in multiple languages, photocopying, helping with surveys etc.
- English Conversation Classes — assist members of the new settling communities with opportunities for practicing their English and getting to know people in the community who are not service providers. Uniting organises community consultations biannually to explore what activities the community would like for us to plan for them under the Settlement Engagement and Transition Support Program.
- Diversity Group — assisting and supporting LGBTIQA+ young people (12-25YO) and their allies with planning and cooking a shared meal, invite/listen to guest speakers, talk about your own experiences, participate in fun activities (social support group).
- General maintenance and housekeeping — just as it says!
- Holiday Programs for Young people from Newly Arrived Communities — To work with youth during the school holiday period. Times vary depending on the activities that are planned by the young people and the Multicultural Team.
- Trauma informed Parenting Program and Playgroup — Every Thursday at Settlement Hub in Maude Street, you can help out with staff, mums & kids. Playgroup runs during the school term.
- Special Events and Promotional Activities — developing promotional materials, helping to organise events in a professional manner, engaging with the community to promote events and programs..
- Mentoring and Coaching — with young people or people from newly arrived communities in a range of our programs, your skills, experience and interests would be matched with the needs of our service users.
All volunteers must have a volunteer Working with Children Check (V Card) and undergo a successful National Police Check. Uniting can assist you in obtaining this.
