Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL)

Organisational purpose and vision

The Brotherhood of St. Laurence (BSL) employs over 1200 staff and is supported by approximately 1000 volunteers. We are a social justice organisation working alongside people experiencing disadvantage to address the fundamental causes of poverty in Australia.

We create programs which prevent and alleviate poverty during four key life stages: childhood, adolescence, midlife and retirement.

BSL’s work is focused in Melbourne and Victoria and also branches out to partners across every state and territory in Australia.

In Seymour, Victoria, BSL operates The SEED Project (Sustaining Economic Empowerment and Dignity for Women). SEED provides a Women’s Financial Wellbeing Hub where women receive training, referral pathways, and access to workshops and other support.
