PFLAG Greater Shepparton

Mission

We are a group of parents, families and friends of gay, lesbian and bisexual people who meet regularly to offer support and friendship to families, particularly parents and also to members of the LGBTIQ+ community who may need support in coming out to their families and friends.

Purpose

We offer support through public education and advocacy, to end discrimination and secure equal civil rights. PFLAG aims to provide a vital link between LGBTIQ+ people and the wider community.

Volunteer purpose

Parents and friends have the opportunity to support the facilitation of a regular meeting space where conversations and support can be offered. Preparing the room/space and coordinating tea/coffee facilities, chairs and a welcoming environment are just some of the volunteer roles/duties that are required. PFLAG also manages its own lending library of resources.

Volunteer opportunities

PFLAG regularly gets involved with local and state-wide events that support diversity and inclusion such as marches, rallies, market days, forums and charity work. PFLAG also manages its own webpage and occasionally offers comments to the media in regards to bullying in school or issues such as marriage equality. All parents and friends are welcome to get involved.
