The Smith Family

The Smith Family is an independent children's charity helping disadvantaged Australian children to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves.

As Australia’s largest national education-oriented charity, we support disadvantaged Australian children to participate fully in their education, giving them the best chance at breaking the cycle of disadvantage. Our learning support and mentoring programs help children in need to fit in at school, keep up with their peers, and build aspirations for a better future for themselves.

Volunteer Opportunities In Shepparton

Learning Clubs

  • Primary
Primary School Learning Clubs are safe, supportive out of school hours learning environments, where students have the opportunity to access resources and participate in activities that develop their academic and social skills. Activities can include homework, literacy, STEM and numeracy as well as games and group discussions. Volunteer Tutors support students with activities individually or in small groups to help students grow in confidence in their own abilities. No previous experience or skills required.
  • Secondary
Secondary aged Learning Clubs are safe, supportive after hours learning environments that support local secondary students (often years 10-12) with their academic work. Volunteer Tutors support students with completing homework tasks, understanding subject topics and preparing for tests and exams. Whilst working with students you may also offer support in understanding how to study, developing study and time management skills and future aspirations.
