Join the Positive Ageing Advisory Committee
Greater Shepparton City Council is calling for nominations from local residents for the Greater Shepparton Positive Ageing Advisory Committee (PAAC).
Some facts about the PAAC
- Meetings are bi monthly for up to 1.5 hours from February to December each year.
- You do not need experience to join the Committee, any one is welcome to apply.
- You will have opportunities to provide advice to Council on how to make Greater Shepparton an age-friendly community.
- You will have the opportunity hear from and and work with other service providers within the sector working in Greater Shepparton.
- Assist in planning events that celebrate the achievements of older people in the community.
- Participating on the PAAC will provide an opportunity to build your confidence and develop your leadership and advocacy skills.
- It’s not all work and no play, there is also ample time to socialise, chat and exchange ideas with your fellow committee members.
Selection process and timeline
- 26 April 2025 Expression of Interest (EOI’s) open.
- 16 May 2025 EOIs close.
Following close of the EOI period, a selection panel will convene to review the applications that have been received. Phone interviews with suitable candidates will be conducted to confirm suitability. Selected members will be appointed to the Committee via endorsement at a Council meeting.
Selection criteria
- Diversity in membership.
- Willingness to share your insights and experience of ageing in Greater Shepparton while remaining an active and valued member of the community.
- Keen to work with other people that share your interest in positive ageing in Greater Shepparton.
- A desire to help make Greater Shepparton an age-friendly city and to promote ageing actively.
- A demonstrated commitment to attend Committee meetings.
Meeting schedule
The PAAC meets bi-monthly between February and December each year. Meetings take place on the second Friday of every second month from 10am to 11:30am.
