NAIDOC 2024 Exhibition - Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud

Kaiela Arts is proud to announce a new exhibition opening on Tuesday 9 July celebrating this year’s NAIDOC Week Theme, Keep the Fire Burning | Blak, Loud & Proud.

The exhibition will honour Ancestors and Country and proudly display the
vitality and resilience of First Nations cultures and storytelling in
contemporary forms.

The exhibition will bring together a range of new solo and collaborative
works created by three generations of Aboriginal artists and Elders with
deep connections to Yorta Yorta country including Amy Briggs, Laurel
Robinson, Rochelle Patten, Cynthia Hardie, Suzanne Atkinson, Lyn Thorpe,
Belinda Briggs, Tammy-Lee Atkinson, Tarn Parker, Dylan Charles, Brett
Wilson, Ally Knight, April Atkinson, Tina King, Andrew Atkinson, Jack
Anselmi, Tahnee Day and more.

Paintings and weaving will feature strongly in the exhibition alongside a
collection of new of screen-printed homewares that have been developed in
our studio, and inspired by local river country, plant-life and colour
palettes. The exhibition also features a display of photographs and artwork
by First Nations students from Wilmot Road and Gowrie Street Primary Schools
who have participated in Kaiela Arts' Galnyatj Schools Program.

Kaiela Arts warmly invites everyone to come and experience this special
exhibition paying homage to the fire that is the enduring strength and
vitality of First Nations cultures.

The exhibition will be a vibrant, joyous and unapologetic celebration of
Aboriginal identity - ‘Blak, Loud and Proud’!
