2019 marks the final celebrations for Greater Shepparton Visitor Centre’s commemoration of 30 years of service to visitors and the community.
For the past three decades the Centre has been run by a dedicated team of volunteers with the support of Greater Shepparton City Council.
To celebrate the Centre’s achievements over the years, the Visitor Centre will be throwing a 30th anniversary celebration for everyone in the community to enjoy.
The community is invited to celebrate on Saturday 11 May, with fun children’s activities such as face painting by Enchanted Rainbow Entertainment and Into the Wild Education will be bringing some special party guests on the day.
The day will recognise the extraordinary contributions of the volunteers and local businesses and industries which support tourism in Greater Shepparton.
Greater Shepparton City Council Deputy Mayor Councillor Shelley Sutton said the Visitor Centre offered excellent services for our municipality.
“We are privileged in Shepparton to have a team of dedicated volunteers and staff with a passion for the community to help promote our region and assist with our many visitors,” Cr Sutton said.
“Open seven days a week, the team assists thousands of visitors each year and is always working with local businesses to promote our town.”
The Visitor Centre’s achievements have been recognised across the state by earning a number of awards such as the first ever Victorian Tourism Award in 2003 for Volunteer Team of the year. In 2017 receiving gold and in 2018 silver from the RACV Victorian Tourism Awards, recognising tourism innovation, excellence and industry profession.
