Greater Shepparton City Council’s popular Activities in the Park program is on the eve of celebrating its tenth season, with organisers currently in the middle of planning a fresh mix of activities.
Interest is currently being sought from individuals and/or organisations to be part of the program line-up, facilitating activities that provide an opportunity for residents and visitors to be physically active in Greater Shepparton’s parks, reserves and pools.
It’s Party Time Jumping Castles owner Leonie Simpson has been involved with the program for a number of years and says it has provided her business with a major boost.
“Activities in the Park supports our business in so many ways and with the regular work we receive through the program, people recognise that we are trustworthy and this has led to increased business for us,” she said.
“If you are a local business or community group that can offer an activity to get people active outside, and are looking to raise your profile in the local area, definitely show your interest in this program. You won’t regret it.”
Lisa Niglia, owner of Tatura Absolute Training Studio, has also experienced similar benefits as a result of being involved with the program.
“The Activities in the Park team make you feel part of a family network and having my face and business logo on Council flyers, social media and in local papers has significantly increased my profile,” she said.
Katie Thorp, owner of RDI Nutrition also believes the program is a particularly good opportunity for small businesses to be given more exposure.
“My activities are based around promoting fruit and veggie consumption in kids, so my involvement has been a great way for me to spread a really important health message to pockets of the community who I may not normally have the chance to engage with,” she said.
Business owners, industry professionals and community groups with experience in providing community based health and wellbeing focused activities including, but not limited to, physical activity, nutrition, environment, arts and culture are encouraged to submit their interest to Council now.
In order to qualify, respondents will need to have their own Public Liability Insurance, current Working with Children Check, First Aid Certificate, Drivers Licence and transport.
The Activities in the Park program facilitator expression of interest form can be found on the Get Mooving Greater Shepparton website www.getmoovingshepparton.com.au
Activities in the Park’s tenth season is proposed to run from September 2021 to April 2022.
