A masterplan for Aquamoves, outlining key development priorities for the centre, will be released for public consultation for three weeks after it was endorsed at Tuesday’s Council Meeting.
A masterplan for Aquamoves, outlining key development priorities for the centre, will be released for public consultation for three weeks after it was endorsed at Tuesday’s Council Meeting.
Greater Shepparton City Council released the masterplan which aims to develop areas of the premier Regional Aquatic and Recreation Centre, to ensure it continues to accommodate community needs now and in the future.
After successfully servicing the region for the past 24 years, Council have identified areas of Aquamoves which are in need of future development or renewal. These include the expansion of the warm water therapy pool, additional accessible change rooms and car parking, redevelopment of the reception area and construction of a fit for purpose pool to facilitate Learn to Swim programs.
“Aquamoves has remained a leading health, wellbeing and leisure venue for residents and visitors to the region for more than two decades,” Acting Director Community David Booth said.
“During this time the centre has seen a huge increase in usage, through the indoor and outdoor pools, hydrotherapy pool, gym, group fitness classes and outdoor facilities. It is clear that certain areas need to be reviewed to ensure they cater to the growing needs of the region.”
Mr Booth encouraged the community to read the masterplan, which will be out for public consultation for three weeks until Friday, 15 October, and share their thoughts on its contents. After this time, community feedback will be reviewed and any necessary changes will be made to the final masterplan.
The masterplan is a long term planning document that seeks to ensure that Aquamoves remains the premier health and fitness venue in Northern Victoria.
“With this feedback, the next steps will be to undertake detailed design of the priority areas listed, beginning with the warm water therapy pool and associated amenities, Mr Booth said.
“This design work will allow Council to identify and target appropriate funding opportunities to support the delivery of these stages in coming years.”
