Australia Day Award Winners

The winners of the 2014 Australia Day awards were announced at ceremonies across Greater Shepparton today.

Barry Campbell was announced as the Greater Shepparton Australia Day Citizen of the year and Brandan Reilly was announced as the Greater Shepparton Young Citizen of the Year. Murchison Tomato Festa was announced as the Greater Shepparton Community Event of the Year.

Greater Shepparton Mayor Jenny Houlihan congratulated all award recipients.

"Barry and Brendan have both made significant contributions to their communities and Greater Shepparton as a whole," Cr Houlihan said.

"It is fantastic to see people getting involved in organisations in their local communities and helping to make a difference and thank you to the people who took the time to submit a nomination to recognise their fellow citizens."

Awards were presented for Citizen and Young Citizen of the year in Arcadia, Shepparton, Mooroopna, Murchison, Tatura and Toolamba and the Greater Shepparton Citizen and Junior Citizen were chosen from these regional winners.

  • Mooroopna Sports Award - Lloyd Payne

Murchison

  • Murchison Citizen of the Year - David Weidenbach
  • Murchison Young Citizen of the Year - Brandan Reilly
  • Murchison Community Event of the Year - Murchison Tomato Festa
  • Murchison Sports Award - Murchison Football Netball Club
  • Murchison Junior Sports Award - Kiara Catania
