Biennial Cultural Heritage Awards 2021 Awards Ceremony

Greater Shepparton City Council, in association with the Greater Shepparton Heritage Advisory Committee, is excited to present the Biennial Greater Shepparton Cultural Heritage Awards 2021 on Saturday 1 May. The Ceremony will commence at 2pm in the ‘Classic Room’ at the Goulburn Valley Hotel, 233-251 High Street, Shepparton.

The public are invited to attend this ceremony, which recognises outstanding contributions to cultural heritage conservation, research, education, promotion, interpretation, training and awareness-raising across the municipality.

All nominations received by Council have been assessed by a judging panel, and the winners will be announced and honoured with an award at the Cultural Heritage Awards Ceremony. Awards will be presented for categories relating to buildings and sites including reuse of a heritage place, restoration of a heritage place, and maintenance of a heritage place. Further categories will include interpretive signage, substantial research publication, smaller publication (booklet, software application, etc), and community, multicultural or indigenous event or tourism contribution relating to Greater Shepparton heritage.

In spite of the challenges imposed by COVID-19, the quantity and calibre of nominations received by Council were exceptional and exemplify Greater Shepparton’s impressive contribution towards the preservation of tangible and intangible cultural heritage.

The Awards Ceremony coincides with the Australian Heritage Festival, which celebrates the theme of ‘Our Heritage for the Future’.

If you wish to attend this event, you are encouraged to RSVP by contacting Council's Building, Planning and Compliance Department by Thursday 29 April on (03) 5832 9700.
