In just over a week, Shepparton’s Victoria Park Lake precinct will transform into a vibrant site of music, food and art through the power of the Illuminate festival.
The two-day event is a celebration of Greater Shepparton’s creativity, innovation and perseverance and will see mesmerising lighting installations and experiences along the shores of Victoria Park Lake, food trucks, roving illuminated performances as well as spectacular hourly laser light shows across both evenings.
Illuminate also welcomes an impressive music line up across the two evenings. Friday night will see artists from Shepparton and Goulburn Valley such as Madi Coville Walker and Deans of Soul with supporting act by Mama Mariachi, while Saturday night will see G-Funk Band from Melbourne and multi-award winning blues band Soul Reign, with supporting acts by Fruity Pickers, Pit Crew and a Welcome to Country performed by traditional dancers.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali said the festival would deliver a unique and creative program.
“Illuminate is truly a celebration like no other and Council is proud to deliver this event for a second year in a row. The event celebrates Greater Shepparton’s creativity as we continue to build our reputation as regional Victoria’s abundant and dynamic cultural capital,” he said.
“Highlights of the festival include the immersive walkthrough installation “What’s that in the water?” by artists Mimi Leung and Tammy-Lee Atkinson, a 27m long fully illuminated lizard, a Dream Walk with many animals to discover, kids creation area, vibrant roving entertainment, over 25 flavour punching food trucks and the dynamic laser light show running hourly across both nights on Victoria Park Lake.”
lluminate will come to life on Friday 5 May at 6pm and conclude on Saturday night. For more details on the festival including the full program of activities head to the Shepp and GV webiste.
