The upcoming Bruce Wilson Memorial Heritage Lecture, being held on Wednesday 18 August 2021, will now also be available to watch and interact with online for those who cannot attend in person.
Members of the public are welcome to join the interactive livestream on YouTube, via Council’s website. This ensures that those who cannot attend the event in person can still watch the lecture and ask questions of the guest speaker, Chris Johnston.
The lecture ‘Navigating heritage: past, present and future’, presented by Ms Johnston, will delve back to the 1970’s and forward into the future to explore changing ideas about heritage buildings and places.
Ms Johnston will host two lectures on Wednesday 18 August 2021 at the Senior Citizens’ Centre in Shepparton, at 1pm and again at 6pm, for those able to attend in person. Both of these sessions will also be livestreamed via YouTube and available to watch on Council’s website. Those tuning in online will also have the opportunity to ask Ms Johnston questions at the end of the lecture.
During the lecture, Ms Johnston will examine what our heritage scorecard looks like today and what new directions might shape heritage into the future. Ms Johnston has been one of the nation’s leading heritage figures for decades, at the forefront of heritage discussion and practice.
Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe encouraged anyone interested in our local heritage to register for the in-person lecture or tune in via the online livestream on the day.
“We are extremely pleased that the lecture will now also be livestreamed to ensure anyone interested can still attend and be involved,” she said.
“Chris Johnston has been a leading figure in heritage discussion around Australia so the event is one not to be missed.”
