Neighbour Day, held on Sunday 29 March, is a Relationships Australia initiative is an annual celebration of the community, bringing together the people next door, across the street or on the next farm for a get together.
Neighbour Day’s five principles are to help to strengthen communities and build better relationships with people who live around us, create safer, healthier and more vibrant suburbs and towns, promotes tolerance, respect and understanding, break down community barriers and protect the elderly, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged.
Council’s Director Community Kaye Thomson encouraged people to get to know their neighbours.
“This is a great way for everyone to get to know their neighbours by organising a barbeque in the local park or in the street,” Ms Thomson said.
“We also have great prizes to assist you to organise your neighbour Day event. So why not enjoy a Sunday barbeque lunch with your neighbours”.
