As part of Activities in the Park, RiverConnect are holding an interactive event Nurture Nature on Tuesday 22 January at SPC KidsTown. The event will conduct fun and educational activities with an environmental focus, encouraging attendees to nurture the nature in their local area and learn more about the great outdoors in our backyard.
This event will include live wildlife demonstrations from Bohollow Wildlife Shelter EnviroEd and the opportunity to learn about safe handling of various reptiles.
RiverConnect staff will provide fun educational art activities to build an understanding of and the connection to our local flora and fauna.
RiverConnect Education Officer Allison Trethowan said these were great activities to keep the kids entertained during the school holidays.
“These are the types of activities which appeal to people of all ages, with something new to learn for everyone,” Ms Trethowan said.
“Adults should not be deterred as this is a chance to have some kid-like fun and we encourage parents and guardians to learn alongside the children.”
Participants are welcome to bring a picnic blanket and finish the morning with a relaxing early lunch in the shade of the peppercorn trees.
During this hot weather Goulburn Valley Water will be on site to cool you down with refreshments from their Water Café and lots of information and fun games to learn about why you should ‘choose tap’ instead of sugary drinks.
This is a great activity for the whole family to enjoy these school holidays with the bonus opportunity to explore the play equipment SPC KidsTown has to offer. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and RiverConnect advises attendees should wear sun-smart clothing, sunscreen and hats, as well as ensuring you stay hydrated particularly in the current hot weather.
