Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to announce it will be hosting the Basketball Country Victoria Under 14 Victorian Country Basketball Championships under a two year agreement for 2015 and 2016.
These events will be held over three days in the 2015 and 2016 Easter School holidays across eight courts within Shepparton. The 2015 event will be held from Friday 10 April to Sunday 12 April.
Council is hosting the event with the Greater Shepparton Basketball Association. The event features approximately 70 teams from all over country Victoria competing for divisional titles in both male and female competitions.
Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Jenny Houlihan, said “traditionally the event attracts around 800 players so we anticipate well over 1,500 people visiting across the three days from all parts of Victoria.”
“This is a significant influx of visitors to Shepparton and surrounds which all flows into the local economy. Major events like this are of great benefit to the businesses in Shepparton and provide an opportunity to showcase our region and our hospitality,” said Cr Houlihan.
