Footy fans are encouraged to come along and meet their AFL heroes in the Maude St Mall on Tuesday 17 February.
Several players from the Carlton Football Club will be available to meet fans and sign autographs in the Target Arcade, between 1.15pm and 3.30pm*.
Greater Shepparton City Council’s Director Sustainable Development Johann Rajaratnam said it is exciting to host the AFL Club.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for people to meet their AFL heroes,” Mr Rajaratnam said.
“This visit will be followed in March by the NAB Challenge Match at Deakin Reserve between Hawthorn and North Melbourne.”
“AFL players are role models for children” said AFL Goulburn Murray Football Development Manager Mark Lambourn
“This community camp will provide a great opportunity to meet Carlton stars, get some autographs, get your photo taken and even to get some footy tips!” Mr Lambourn said.
Carlton’s General Manager of Consumer Business and Supporter Engagement Clinton Bown said the Blues are looking forward to meeting the Shepparton community.
“Community camps are always a terrific opportunity to engage with our supporters in country areas, particularly those who may find it difficult to make the journey to games,” Bown said.
“Through school clinics and visits to local hospitals and organisations, we’re able to connect with our regional supporters at a grassroots level.
“We hope that all Carlton supporters in Shepparton can come along to one of our events and meet the team.”
While in Shepparton, Carlton players will visit community organisations, hold school clinics, and train with local footballers. The Blues will also host a dinner function at the Sir Ian McLellan Centre in Mooroopna. Tickets to the function are available from www.goulburnmurrayafl.com.au or by calling: (03) 5823 9800.
The meet and greet session is proudly provided by Greater Shepparton City Council and AFL Goulburn Murray.
