Commercial Activity Centres workshops

Greater Shepparton City Council and Essential Economics are conducting workshops with relevant business and community stakeholders to assist with the development of the Commercial Activity Centres Strategy.

Activity centres are locations that combine activities such as retail, offices, higher-density housing, entertainment, civic/community, education and medical services. The Shepparton CBD is the largest activity centre in Greater Shepparton, although all centres throughout the municipality will be considered in the Strategy.

The Strategy will guide Council in making planning decisions for commercial development throughout Greater Shepparton. Detailed analysis of the issues and opportunities associated with retail and other activities in Greater Shepparton will be undertaken.

The work now being undertaken will confirm the strategic vision and objectives for all activity centres, develop guiding principles for the sustainable development of the Shepparton CBD and other activity centres and provide direction for Council when considering proposals for new retail and commercial development. The overall aim is to achieve a planning outcome which encourages commercial development at suitable locations to meet the current and future needs of the community.

The workshops will be held:

Workshop 1: Monday 8 September at 3pm at the Mooroopna Hub. This will focus on all centres within Greater Shepparton apart from Shepparton CBD (such as Mooroopna, Tatura)

Workshop 2: Tuesday 9 September at 9am at the Parklake Hotel. This will focus on Shepparton CBD only.

Participants are invited to consider issues of relevance to the broader community as well as their own specific points of interest.

Please RSVP to Simon Williams on 5832 9820 or simon.williams@shepparton.vic.gov.au by Thursday 4 September.
