Next round of Council’s Community Grant programs now open

Greater Shepparton City Council is encouraging applications for the first round of its 2026/27 Community Grant programs.

The annual program provides opportunities for local clubs, community organisations and residents to apply for funding across 10 grant categories, supporting initiatives that strengthen community connection, participation and local engagement.

The available grant programs include:

  • Access and Inclusion Grants
  • Small Town Australia Day Event Grants
  • Creative City Grants
  • Community Matching Grants
  • Heritage Conservation Grants
  • International Women’s Day Grants
  • Minor and Major Event Grants
  • Our Sporting Future Grants
  • Seniors Festival Grants
  • Small Town Festive Event Grants

Applications opened at 9am on Monday 6 July 2026 and close at 5pm on Monday 10 August 2026.

Mayor, Cr Shane Sali encouraged any eligible groups or organisations to apply for funding through the relevant program.

“Community groups and organisations keep our community engaged and thriving, and Council recognises their importance. This is why we continue to invest in them through programs such as these,” he said.

“I encourage everyone to visit Council’s website to check their eligibility and put forward an idea. Often a small idea, supported by funding, can create lasting positive impacts in the community.”

Several success stories have been shared from past grant recipients. In the 2024/25 financial year, the Katandra Football Netball Club secured funding through the Our Sporting Future Grants program to install two electronic scoreboards. This upgrade ensures the facility meets modern standards and significantly enhances the matchday experience for both players and spectators.

To support applicants, an Online Community Information Session will be held Wednesday 15 July at 6pm. Interested individuals or groups can register to attend by visiting our registration page.

“We want to make it as easy as possible for groups to apply. That’s why you can attend the online session or contact Council and speak to the relevant grant coordinator for assistance or further details,” Cr Sali said.

Each program is designed to support and strengthen community spirit and participation across a range of areas, offering different levels of financial assistance.
