Greater Shepparton City Council is inviting residents to take part in the National Tree Day community planting event on Sunday 31 August 2025 at Chivalry Drive, Mooroopna.
National Tree Day is Australia’s largest community-driven tree planting and environmental care event. Since 1996 more than 28 million trees have been planted nationwide, with over 5 million volunteers generously contributing 10 million hours to grow a greener future.
This annual event offers an opportunity for residents to come together, enjoy the outdoors, and contribute to a shared community space. Attendees will be treated to a complimentary BBQ and native plant giveaways, and there will also be hot drinks available to purchase.
Council staff and enthusiastic volunteers will be available throughout the morning to guide participants. All necessary materials, including plants, stakes, guards, mats, gloves, and tools will be provided.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged families and individuals to attend and enjoy a day outdoors.
“We invite community members to come along with the family, dig in and enjoy a day outside at the National Tree Day event in Mooroopna,” he said.
Community members are encouraged to pre-register through the website.
