Greater Shepparton City Council, through its destination brand Shepparton & Goulburn Valley, is excited to announce the five talented winners of the art contest ‘A Cup of Shepp and GV’.
Inspired by our diverse community and its people, this contest aimed to showcase the hidden talents in the community, with the opportunity for residents to develop creative artwork representing some of the unique towns found within the region.
Open to all ages, the competition ran across four weeks from Monday 10 July to Sunday 6 August 2023, receiving a total of 46 submissions from local artists, representing Shepparton, Mooroopna, Tatura, Dookie and Murchison.
On Monday 7 August, 15 finalists were selected to be assessed by a judging panel, conformed by Shepparton Art Museum Curator Caroline Esbenshade, Artist and Illustrator Mimi Leung, Destination Goulburn Valley Executive Officer Vicki Scott and local coffee shop owner Matt Kington.
Based on the technique and skill, concept and creativity, representation of the town and use of the format for the purpose of a coffee cup, the judges came to an agreement and five winners were announced:

Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, congratulated the winners of the contest and said it was exciting to see the talent and creativity displayed by the community.
“It was great to see so many talented people submitting their artwork for the contest,” he said.
“We congratulate the winners and finalists for their wonderful display of creativity and talent, and also thank everyone who submitted their artwork to the competition.”
Winners and finalists will be invited to attend an awards ceremony where the winning artworks will be revealed and prizes presented. The winners will receive an art package, including a voucher for art supplies, entry to an art workshop and more. The winning artworks will also be celebrated through a limited-edition print run of coffee cups to be featured in cafes and restaurants across the region.
