Consultation for future Princess Park off-leash dog park

Greater Shepparton City Council will be conducting a consultation session to gain feedback about the layout and equipment at the future off-leash dog park at Princess Park on Saturday 12 December between 10.00am – 12.00noon.

In line with the Future Directions Plan for Princess Park adopted by Council in February 2019, the new off-leash dog park will be located in the bushland north of the Shepparton Runners Club building.

Plumbing works will commence in December 2020 with civil works planned to commence from January 2021 and be completed this financial year.

The works will include a 1.8m high fence, solar lighting, seating, water fountain with dog bowl, dog agility equipment, dog waste litter bin, a concrete entrance and path to shade structure and select irrigated area.

Council’s Acting Director Infrastructure Craig Exton said Council would like to invite community members to come down and have a chat to Council staff about the future off-leash dog park at Princess Park.

“Community members will be able to provide valuable insights into the layout and the equipment for the off-leash dog park they feel would be best suited for the area,” he said.

“The need for additional off-leash dog facilities has been clearly communicated to Council from the community and, importantly, was included in Council’s Princess Park Future Directions Plan.

“The dog park will provide a safe and enjoyable space for people to get active with their dogs in a beautiful bush setting.”

This project received almost $160,000 in funding in August 2020 from the Victorian State Government.
