Victoria Police, in partnership with Greater Shepparton City Council, are providing an opportunity for young drivers and parents to understand the consequences associated with road trauma and to discuss safe driving at an upcoming Cool Heads young driver program session.
In Summary
Cool Heads is a thought provoking, confronting and informative road safety program with advice on a wide range of topics for young drivers. The session will take place on Wednesday 24 July 2024 from 7.00pm to 9.00pm at Riverlinks Eastbank, 70 Welsford Street, Shepparton. The two-hour session incorporates road trauma visuals and messaging, while speakers share their road trauma experience as emergency service workers, offending drivers, magistrates or road trauma victims.
Cool Heads addresses general road safety issues and gives young drivers the information required to make informed decisions about their driving behaviour and attitude.
Since its commencement in 2008, Shepparton Police, Council and local agencies have been working together to educate young drivers through this free interactive education program. The program has seen great success, attracting over 7,000 participants, with referrals from the court system as a way to help young driving offenders recognise the consequences of their actions.
Mayor, Councillor Shane Sali, encouraged young drivers and parents to sign up to the program, to gain valuable information on road safety.
“This is a fantastic initiative that has been running in Greater Shepparton for over 15 years. It costs nothing to attend and it may save young drivers lives, or the life of family and friends,” he said.
“Council have received lots of positive feedback for the Cool Heads program in the past, so I encourage people to sign up and participate.”
This is a free event, however bookings are required. Click here to register for the program.
