Greater Shepparton City Council noted the allocation of more than $58,000 worth of community grants at the December Ordinary Council Meeting.
This funding was awarded to 26 local groups, clubs and organisations as part of four grant programs including Community Matching Grants Round One 2021/2022, Small Town Festive Event Grants 2021, Australia Day Grants 2022, and Major and Minor Event Grants Round One 2021/2022.
Each year Council provides grants as a one-off financial assistance to not-for-profit organisations running local projects and activities in a bid to strengthen and support the community.
Mayor, Cr Kim O’Keeffe thanked each of the local groups who applied for one of the grant categories and congratulated those who were successful in securing funding.
“Council’s Community Grants Program is an important initiative to help support locals in hosting events, running activities and creating programs to help benefit the wider region,” she said.
“A big congratulations to those people who were successful in receiving a grant through this funding round.
“For those who were unsuccessful, we encourage you all to apply again in the next round to secure your own share of funding.”
Council’s Community Grant Programs Round Two opens on Monday 10 January 2022 and closes on Monday, 28 February 2022. Council will hold two information sessions online for anyone seeking to make an application.
For more information about the information sessions, grants and how to apply, visit Council’s Community Grants page.
