Greater Shepparton City Council is pleased to announce a new era of management of the Shepparton Regional Saleyards with the appointment of new managers.
After many years of high quality service to the saleyards, Jack Ladgrove and Ian McDermott are retiring. Jack and Ian have been managing the saleyards for the past five years and before that worked at the saleyards under the previous manager Jock Hicks.
The Shepparton Regional Saleyards holds sales three days per week and attracts up to 250 buyers and on-lookers for the larger cattle sales. Larger sales typically realise up to $2m in sales.
Following a public tender process, Council has awarded the new management contract to local Shepparton company Scanclear, which has extensive experience in livestock and saleyards management.
The new contract commences on 1 January 2019 and includes responsibility for supplying all staff and equipment to ensure the saleyards is continued to be managed to a high standard for a period of up to seven years.
Council considers the Shepparton Regional Saleyards to be a key strategic asset within our municipality and look forward to working with all regional stakeholders to ensure its ongoing success.
